The US Youth Soccer Michigan Kohl’s American Cup is back in 2008!
The US Youth Soccer Kohl’s American Cup is the largest recreational youth soccer tournament in the United States, and it is returning to Muskegon for a second straight year! The event is strictly for Michigan’s recreational players, and it emphasizes fun and learning in a family and festival-like atmosphere.
In addition to fun soccer games where scores and standings are not kept, players can expect a repeat appearance by the MSYSA Prize Wheel, several inflatable games, and a Skills & Drills Competition area. Furthermore, all players will receive a goody bag and tournament participation medal.
The 2008 MSYSA Kohl's American Cup is open to U9-U14 boys and girls recreational teams (AYSO and other non-MSYSA recreational teams are invited). The cost is only $100 for MSYSA teams. As a special incentive:
The first 20 coaches to register their team will receive an adidas coaches’ bag from MSYSA
Coaches who brought a team to the 2007 Telcom Credit Union Cup will receive $25 off the registration fee for the 2008 Kohl's American Cup
All teams who register and play in the Kohl's American Cup may apply for financial assistance to help with registration and traveling costs
As a reminder, all games at the Kohl's American Cup will be played using the small-sided games format (see below). Please pay careful attention to maximum roster sizes.

Register your team for the Kicks for Cancer Program
MSYSA has partnered with the LLS Kicks for Cancer program, and all the money raised at the Kohl’s American Cup will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The program works by having your players raise funds by getting pledges of support from family, friends, and neighbors for each “touch” on a soccer ball. The goal is for each participating player to touch the ball 2,000 times over a 10 day period (before the Kohl’s American Cup). On June 7th, each of your players will bring their pledge sheets and money to the tournament. There are prizes to be awarded for the individual and team raising the most amount of money, as well as participation prizes for all (including coaches!). It is MSYSA’s goal to get every team involved in this program, and to raise as much money as possible for this very worthy cause. To register your team for the Kicks for Cancer Program, please fill out this form and e-mail to sgermon@michiganyouthsocer.org or fax back to 734-459-6242 before May 16th. Upon receipt of your form, you will be mailed a program welcome packet to help your players get organized.
